Handcrafted at the Yairi workshop in Kani, Japan, the FYM70 combines premium tonewoods with the comfortable proportions of a Folk/OM body. A solid AAA Sitka spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides give this Masterworks acoustic a clear, expressive voice with depth, rich overtones and impressive projection.

Sitka spruce brings definition and dynamic range, while rosewood adds fullness and harmonic complexity. The FYM70 is particularly well suited to intricate chords and fingerstyle arrangements, offering the note separation that lets individual lines remain clear. Its versatile response also makes it a rewarding choice for melodic picking and rhythmic accompaniment.

Hand-carved FST6 forward-shifted bracing with asymmetric tone bars supports balance and projection. Yairi’s ebony Direct Coupled bridge transfers string vibration into the soundboard, while an extended dovetail neck joint reflects the workshop’s careful approach to construction.

The one-piece mahogany neck features a semi-gloss finish and an ebony fingerboard, paired with a 25-inch scale length and 44 mm nut width. These proportions provide a comfortable platform for detailed fretting and expressive playing.

A natural gloss body finish, ivoroid binding and abalone and mother-of-pearl details give the FYM70 understated elegance. Gold Gotoh 510 tuners with ebony buttons, a bone nut and saddle, and ebony bridge pins complete the appointments. Supplied with a hardshell case, this Japanese-built Masterworks model brings together refined sound, feel and craftsmanship.
