Bourgeois Downeast Series SDS/DE Walnut — Limited Edition
Some guitars stop you mid-sentence. The Bourgeois SDS/DE Walnut Limited Edition is one of them. A slope-shoulder dreadnought hand-voiced by Dana Bourgeois, this limited run pairs an Aged Tone torrefied Sitka spruce top with solid American black walnut back and sides — the result is an instrument that is as visually striking as it is sonically compelling.
Walnut is having its moment, and for good reason. As a back and sides wood, it sits tonally between mahogany and rosewood — offering mahogany’s focused midrange punch alongside rosewood’s depth and sustain. It’s a tonewood that rewards players who want something distinct: not the expected brightness of spruce-and-rosewood, but something earthier, more complex, and entirely its own. The slope-shoulder dreadnought body softens the aggression of a traditional dreadnought, producing a more balanced, even response across the frequency range — comfortable to hold, easy to play, and capable of filling a room without effort.
This is a limited edition instrument. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
