The Bourgeois M5O Black-Top brings the depth of an octave mandolin to a comfortable A-style instrument. Designed for mandolin players and guitarists alike, it offers an expressive voice for melodic picking, vocal accompaniment and acoustic ensemble playing.

An Aged Tone Adirondack spruce top pairs with Aged Tone European curly maple back and sides. This carefully selected combination provides a foundation for clear, resonant tone, from intricate melodies to fuller chord arrangements.

The 21-inch scale and 1-3/8-inch nut width balance the instrument’s lower register with manageable playing dimensions. An ebony fingerboard and European maple neck complete the construction.

A gloss black top, ivoroid body and fingerboard binding, and a Cordovan-coloured neck give the M5O a distinctive traditional appearance. Golden Age satin nickel tuners and a custom-engraved Bill James tailpiece complement the finish.

Built in partnership with Eastman and supplied with a hardshell case, the M5O is an inviting choice for folk, Celtic music, roots arrangements and songwriting.
