The Yairi YB70 opens up a deeper acoustic register, bringing fresh character to familiar chord shapes and new possibilities for songwriting. Tuned B to B, this Japanese-handcrafted baritone delivers a rich, resonant voice that lends itself to atmospheric arrangements, melodic bass lines and full-bodied accompaniment.

A solid AA Sitka spruce top pairs with East Indian rosewood back and sides for clarity, depth and harmonic richness. Spruce provides definition and dynamic response, helping picked notes and chord voicings remain articulate in the lower register, while rosewood adds fullness and texture.

The extended 704 mm scale length supports the lower tuning, paired with a spacious body that gives the YB70 substantial acoustic presence. FST2 forward-shifted bracing with asymmetric tone bars supports balance and projection, while Yairi’s rosewood Direct Coupled bridge transfers string vibration directly into the soundboard.

A one-piece mahogany neck with a semi-gloss finish meets a rosewood fingerboard, with a 44 mm nut width and 20 frets. The extended dovetail neck joint reflects the careful construction behind the instrument, using premium tonewoods naturally seasoned for five to fifteen years.

Ivoroid binding, abalone and mother-of-pearl details, and gold Gotoh tuners give the YB70 a refined appearance. A bone nut and saddle and ebony bridge pins complete the appointments. Handcrafted in Kani, Japan, and supplied with a hardshell case, this distinctive baritone offers an inspiring way to expand your acoustic sound.
