Originally developed with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead, the Yairi WY1 has become a distinctive model in the Yairi range. Its Folk/OM body combines comfortable proportions with greater depth than a standard OM, providing additional body volume for a full, projecting acoustic voice.

A solid AA Western red cedar top pairs with East Indian rosewood back and sides to deliver warmth, clarity and harmonic richness. Cedar’s responsive character suits delicate fingerpicking, while the deeper body gives rhythmic accompaniment fullness and presence. The natural satin finish lends the WY1 an understated appearance that lets its tonewoods and decorative details stand out.

FST2 forward-shifted bracing with asymmetric tone bars supports balance and note separation. Yairi’s rosewood Direct Coupled bridge anchors the strings through the soundboard behind the saddle, transferring vibration directly into the top. An extended dovetail neck joint completes the carefully considered construction.

The one-piece mahogany neck features a semi-gloss finish and a rosewood fingerboard with an abalone inlay at the 12th fret. A 25-inch scale length and 44 mm nut width provide a comfortable platform for chord work, melodic playing and intricate fingerstyle arrangements.

Ivoroid binding, paua abalone purfling and gold Gotoh tuners give the WY1 a refined finish. A bone nut and saddle and ebony bridge pins complete the appointments, while the LR Baggs StagePro Bronze pickup and EQ system provides practical versatility for amplified performance. Handcrafted in Japan and supplied with a hardshell case, the WY1 brings together an individual design heritage and enduring Yairi craftsmanship.
